Yoni Kahn

Yoni Kahn leads a double life as a physicist and musician. Recently arrived in Canada and currently an assistant professor of physics at University of Toronto, in his musical life he specializes in historical horns and has performed with period-instrument ensembles across the US, including Handel & Haydn Society, Tempesta di Mare, Bach Society Houston, Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Trinity Baroque Orchestra, and the period opera company Teatro Nuovo. He was co-founder of the classical and Romantic ensemble Grand Harmonie, where he performed as soloist in Weber's Concertino for Horn in 2017 and made numerous arrangements of 18th- and 19th-century opera repertoire for wind ensemble.
Yoni holds a B.A. in physics and math, a B. Mus in horn performance, and a certificate in music composition from Northwestern University, where he graduated in 2009. He was introduced to the natural horn by Jean Rife while pursuing his Ph.D. at MIT, and subsequently studied historical horns with R.J. Kelley and Richard Seraphinoff.
