Norman Engel

TRUMPET

Trumpeter Norman Engel enjoys a richly diverse career, performing on both historic and modern trumpets. He has worked as a soloist and orchestral player with Canada’s renowned Tafelmusik Orchestra since 1993. He has also toured, recorded and concertized with American Bach Soloists; Apollo’s Fire; New York Collegium; Boston Early Music; Santa Fe Pro Musica; Portland Baroque; Opera Atelier; Le Boreades de Montreal; Arion; and the Aradia Ensemble among others.

As a recording artist, Mr. Engel has performed on more than 75 CD’s and DVD’s for Sony Classical; Deutsche Harmonia Mundi; Naxos; CBC; Analekta; Atma; Koch Classics and Tafelmusik Media. He has performed on countless radio and television broadcasts, live, streamed and in studio.

Tours he has performed on have taken him to most of Canada and the United States, across Europe, to Asia, and New Zealand.

On modern trumpet he has had the pleasure of working with The Toronto Symphony; Canadian Opera Company; National Ballet; Santa Fe Opera; Esprit Orchestra and many others.

Norman has given masterclasses for the University of Toronto; Glenn Gould School; Tafelmusik Summer Institute; Wilfred Laurier University; Grand Valley State University and the Toronto Trumpet Symposium.
